Chapter 51

Wool, fine or coarse animal hair; horsehair yarn

And woven fabric

 

Note.

1-     Throughout the Nomenclature:

a)                        “Wool” means the natural fibre gown by sheep or lambs;

b)                         “Fine animal hair” means the hair of alpaca, llama, vicuna, camel, yak, Angora, Tibetan, Kashmir or similar goats (but not common goats), rabbit (including Angora rabbit), hare, beaver, nutria or musk-rat;

c)                         “Coarse animal hair” means the hair of animals not mentioned above, excluding brush-making hair and bristles (heading No.05.02) and horsehair (heading No. 05.03).

 

Explanatory remarks to chapter 51

1-     For sanitary reasons, the importation of wool is subject to the approval of the State Veterinary Organization.

2-     The importation of tannery wool, woolen yarn mixed with tannery wool or garnetted wool textiles composed wholly or in part of garnetted wool is prohibited.

3-      The exportation of the goods covered by this chapter is subject to the approval of the Ministry of Commerce.

4-      The importation of the hair and wool of those animals the meat of which are religiously banned as well as those that are not slaughtered in accordance with the Islamic rites, is forbidden.
