Chapter 51

Wool, fine or coarse animal hair; horsehair yarn

and woven fabric

 

Note.

 

1.‑ Throughout the Nomenclature:

(a)                    "Wool" means the natural fibre grown by sheep or lambs;

 

 

(b)                    "Fine animal hair" means the hair of alpaca, llama, vicuna, camel, yak, Angora, Tibetan, Kashmir or similar goats (but not common goats), rabbit (including Angora rabbit), hare, beaver, nutria or musk‑rat;

 

 

(c)                     "Coarse animal hair" means the hair of animals not mentioned above, excluding brush‑making hair and bristles (heading 05.02) and horsehair (heading 05.03).

 

Explanatory remarks to chapter 51

 

1-                       The importation of tannery wool, woolen yarn mixed with tannery wool or garnetted wool and textiles composed wholly or in part of granetted wool is subject to double the amount specified under the relating tariff.

 

 

2-                       The importation of the hair and wool of those animals the meat of which are religiously banned as well as those that are not slaughtered in accordance with the Islamic rites, is forbidden.

 

 

3-                       The importation and exportation of raw products derived from animals covered by this chapter are subject to compliance with Article 7 of veterinary law passed in 1971(1350).
